About the game

Contra Overdrive is a love letter to classic run-and-gun arcade shooters, reimagined in full 3D for the modern browser. The camera hangs in a fixed 2.5D perspective while you sprint, leap, and roll across procedurally generated terrain. Every few seconds the arena shifts — a turret drops from the skyline, a drone locks on from above, a squad of kamikaze runners sprints in from the edge of the frame.

Weapons

Five distinct firing modes, cycled with Q or the scroll wheel:

• Rifle — high fire rate, balanced damage. The default for everything.
• Spread — five-shot fan, perfect for crowds.
• Laser — long-range beam with armor penetration.
• Flamethrower — short-range particle stream that melts grunts in a second.
• Homing rockets — slow, devastating, auto-locks to the nearest enemy.

Difficulty

Enemy health, spawn rate, and projectile speed all scale with your run time. Every 45 seconds a mini-boss drops from the skybox. Survive long enough and the biome shifts — jungle → industrial → volcanic — with fog, lighting, and ground textures changing to match.
